Ahhhh! My precioussss. (AKA, reading the LOTR trilogy)

So I finished reading The Lord of the Rings, and I cried.

And when I say "cried", I mean I felt a lump bobble up in my throat and my eyes started glazing with tears. Funny that it should happen when Gandalf says that tears are okay.

Up until The Return of the King, I'm afraid I was kinda bored. Mostly, I was just reading the book [Note: when I say "book", I mean the whole trilogy, like Tolkien wanted it to be] so that I could have the satisfaction of saying "Oh yeah, I've read that."

But having seen the movies first, and adding J.R.R's wordiness to the mix, I was impatient and not a very good admirer of his writing.
I was an inconstant lover, spending days if not weeks away from the book, turning instead to mindless entertainment like Pinterest, YouTube and Twitter.
Honestly, I've decided that my kids won't be allowed to watch the movies until they've read the book. This way, they can be reasonably disappointed and crushed when Tom Bombadil doesn't actually have a cameo.

HA!

   Ahem.
I digress.

The Return of the King was awesome.
Mostly due to the fact that they had almost a whole chapter dedicated to Eowyn and Faramir's love-story.

THEY'RE SO ABOMINABLY CUTE!

I've always preferred them to Arwen and Aragorn. Just sayin'.

To anyone who is thinking about reading the book, please do. It's a masterpiece: An epic tale that doesn't have an equal.

And who doesn't love Hobbits?
