"No. I am your father."

"Anyone who Tweets at me "Luke, I am your father" is a silly Gungan. The line is "No, I am your father." Friends don't let friends... etc." -Corey Vidal

So, why is it that we quote things wrong all the time? It's like we, as a society, are all just failing together.
After all, how many of the things we quote and joke about have we actually seen? I quote things that friends have quoted and I will quote the quote WRONG.

It's my own fault for trying to be funny.

Don't make the joke if you can't understand it to it's full hilarity.

Dirty Harry (1971)
What People Say: “Do you feel lucky, punk?"

What The Film Really Said: "Ah, I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking, 'Did he fire six shots or only five?' Well, to tell you the truth, I've forgotten myself in all this excitement. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk?"
If We’re Going To Get It Wrong, Why Not: “Excuse me, sir, but current police guidelines mean I am required to inform you of the still-loaded nature of my weapon. I would also warn you that it is statistically likely that you will face a life-terminating situation should I discharge it.”

The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
What People Say: "Luke, I am your father."

What The Film Really Said: "No. I am your father."
And for the pedantic among you, the line said on camera was “Obi Wan killed your father.” The dub was made to include the twist.
If We’re Going To Get It Wrong, Why Not: “Luke… I’ve got something to tell you. You know that Princess you kissed? It’s sort of awkward… Oh, and sorry about the hand.”

Casablanca (1942)
What People Say: "Play it again, Sam."
What The Film Really Said: "You played it for her, you can play it for me. If she can stand it, I can. Play it!"
If We’re Going To Get It Wrong, Why Not: “Do you know chopsticks?”

The Wizard Of Oz (1939)
What People Say: “I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore, Toto.”
What The Film Really Said: " Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.” Yeah, it’s not far wrong, but it is wrong.
If We’re Going To Get It Wrong, Why Not: “Holy cow, Toto! The whole world’s gone Technicolor!”

Song(s) of the Day: When I Was Your Man - Bruno Mars [Alexander and I would calmly take each other's hand when he croons "and held your haaaAaand."]
Stay - Rihanna ['cause it came on, like, twice. And it's pretty.]
Verse(s) of the Day: [Ephesians]"10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."

Oatmeal raisin cookies: Abominations or a delight?

   Raisins.
They're humiliated grapes, sure.

But how could anyone dismiss the cookies that I slaved over, that happen to taste delicious, just because of the presence of a few little raisins?

Those poor, little dears. Yummy, but they have no life and no juice.

  "They were once grapes!"
"Yes, but they aren't anymore," he said. "I'm sure your cookies are amazing. Delicious, even. But I cannot take anything with raisins!"

  What?!
If something is amazing and delicious and has only one con against it, shouldn't you perhaps try it without disnmissing outright? Otherwise, I would never have eaten chick-peas last night in the delicious dish my mommy had made.

   You're missing out, my friend.

Song of the Day: "I Dreamed A Dream" - Les Miserables [I sang/shrieked this song into Alexander's ear, today. He loved it.]
Verse of the Day: "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."

Ahhhh! My precioussss. (AKA, reading the LOTR trilogy)

So I finished reading The Lord of the Rings, and I cried.

And when I say "cried", I mean I felt a lump bobble up in my throat and my eyes started glazing with tears. Funny that it should happen when Gandalf says that tears are okay.

Up until The Return of the King, I'm afraid I was kinda bored. Mostly, I was just reading the book [Note: when I say "book", I mean the whole trilogy, like Tolkien wanted it to be] so that I could have the satisfaction of saying "Oh yeah, I've read that."

But having seen the movies first, and adding J.R.R's wordiness to the mix, I was impatient and not a very good admirer of his writing.
I was an inconstant lover, spending days if not weeks away from the book, turning instead to mindless entertainment like Pinterest, YouTube and Twitter.
Honestly, I've decided that my kids won't be allowed to watch the movies until they've read the book. This way, they can be reasonably disappointed and crushed when Tom Bombadil doesn't actually have a cameo.

HA!

   Ahem.
I digress.

The Return of the King was awesome.
Mostly due to the fact that they had almost a whole chapter dedicated to Eowyn and Faramir's love-story.

THEY'RE SO ABOMINABLY CUTE!

I've always preferred them to Arwen and Aragorn. Just sayin'.

To anyone who is thinking about reading the book, please do. It's a masterpiece: An epic tale that doesn't have an equal.

And who doesn't love Hobbits?

Patience, Grasshopper.

Something I've been thinking about today is freshmen and young teenagers in general.

Personally, I respect teachers that can handle all of the immature and rowdy, chattering crowds of freshies, because I could never do that. In fact, I fear that I would end up throwing up my hands in exasperation and screaming "ACH! Just stop with the giggling about things that aren't funny! You are bringing the IQ levels in this room to an embarrassing new low."

"Patience, grasshopper."

Honestly, the generation that I grew up in seemed a lot more mature than this one (a strange thing to say, but I can't help but feel it's accurate).

Am I over-reacting?  Perhaps. I realize that part of our jobs as the Older Ones is to encourage awkward Younglings and ignore their incessant giggles after witnessing slapstick humor, but sometimes it is so hard.

I mean, I totally believe in being good examples in Christ.

God, help me not to strangle the tweens.
Because murder, kids, is wrong.

Anyways. Feel free to let me know how you feel on the matter! Most likely, everyone else has a better handle on such things than I do.

Song of the Day: No One - Aly and AJ

Verse of the Day:  Ephesians 4:1-3
1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
[Now isn't THAT a verse I should have been thinking about today? :) ]

Blogging Every Day

BEDA.

Blogging Every Day in April.

Goodness gracious, who in their right minds would undertake such a thing? Especially a girl who finds difficulty in keeping New Year's Resolutions and blogging/vlogging, like, AT ALL.
But I'm going to do it, my friend. :) I am going to succeed and make everyone proud of me.

If you're not already impressed by the fact that I can make my bed every day in 5 seconds, then I don't know how I can impress you!
But here's a funny fact that may or may not be true: Apparently, pigs and humans are the only mammals that get sunburnt.

Join me on this journey, if you like. :)
I'm going to do a song of the day and perhaps a Bible verse of the day.

Song of the Day: Radioactive - Imagine Dragons

Verse of the Day: John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

I make videos.

HA.

My first real montage! And my fourth video this year. *Sigh* I am not good at this (yet) guys!

Isn't the music just so..."Aaaahhh, prettyyy..."-like?

Cows.

You decide, my friend.

A distant, beautiful country.

     Hey there.

Yes, you.

I am so, so, so, so, SO sorry. Readily do I accept the award for "Worst Blogger of All Time", seeing as how I have only ever written one post--four weeks ago.

The truth is, dear, I've been away. Far away. Like, across the ocean to a distant, beautiful country.

Norway.

The name itself is magic to my eyes and ears. Though I've been called a writer, I'm actually not very good at describing things, places or people.

But I shall try.

      Norway is endless countryside.
It is winter wonderland. The snow clings to the trees. The air is so cold it makes your nostrils feel frozen when you breathe through your nose. I love that feeling.

"Not being able to breathe?" No.
The nostril thing.

    Norway is delicious.
Hobbit-land, for they have four meals a day and sometimes coffee and cake.
Unlike the Shire, though, the people are actually all average height. And no, they aren't all blondes.

Shocking, that Scandinavians have dark hair as well. Whew.

     I had a wonderful time.
Nothing compares to my cute little Mormor's (grandmother's) cooking. Or the way my Bestefar (grandfather) catches my eyes and makes a funny face.

My favorite thing about them is the following:

1. Mormor's wrinkles.
2. Bestefar's manly leather hands that are so big.
3. Mormor's laugh. Sort of like Piglet's, because she's so small.
4. The way Mormor doesn't think it's proper for Bestefar to be too cuddly with her in front of everyone.
5. Bestefar making sure we read the Bible and pray every single night before bedtime.
6. Mormor always telling people to go ahead and eat their fill.
7. Bestefar's habit of singing harmony when we sing for our meal.
8. Mormor's small eyes.
9. Bestefar's smile and laugh. Teeth will be shown, you know!
10. How they love each other and everyone around them.

A highlight for this trip was meeting my sister's boyfriend Min Khai. He's from Burma.
Sweet, short, muscular, great-hair, cute laugh, quiet personality, kind. I quite liked him. :)

Another highlight was meeting my baby cousin/toddler Nicholai. He cried every time my Tante Berit put him down. He's a mamma's boy, fo sho.
And he had no eyebrows.

Basically, I came home, and though I was happy to be back, I said to Mom "It just isn't as beautiful here."
"Well, should we go back?"
"Yes. As long as we can bring all our friends."
"That would be fun."
